Eden and Belinda have operated the Coachman for the past 10 years, but the lease has now been sold to a Maitland couple (details will appear on Wednesday).
Meanwhile construction of the couple’s new carwash facility in the Forbes CBD is nearing completion.
Forbes Carwash is being built on the corner of Rankin Street and Browne’s Lane, and according to the developers, should open in the next month.
Belinda and Eden hope to complete the project by mid May, hot on the heels of the opening of the new Bernardi’s Marketplace on the adjacent block.
Belinda said the recent floods had delayed progress, but work recommenced after a two week interruption.
“It was really only a short delay of a couple of weeks,” she said.
“We had planned to open at the end of April, but now we’ve pushed that back to mid May.”
Forbes Carwash will feature one automatic wash bay and four manual bays, one of which will be able to accommodate boat trailers, with a high vehicle platform installed.
The drive-through facility will also feature a detailing bay and four vacuum bays, plus a dog washing area.
An office and customer waiting area will include amenities as well as a money change machine and other vending machines.
The plans also include a disabled unisex toilet and disabled entry ramp.
Visitors will enter the car and boat wash via Rankin Street and exit into the Lawler Street Woolworths carpark.
Much of the water used by the carwash will be recycled with collection tanks fitted below the pavement.
Ms McCorkell said it was hoped the facility would attract motorists, but also pet owners and boat owners on their way to and from the water-ski area on Bedgerabong Road.
“That was a market that we thought we could help,” she said.
