Makeover for next stage

15 Mar, 2010 08:51 AM
Work is underway on the latest stage of the Clarinda Street beautification project that will see a continuation of footpath renewal, kerb and guttering replacement and on-street tree planting.

The first stage will result in new kerb/guttering and footpath being put in place in the area between the women’s fashion store 141 on Main and Hunter’s Real Estate.

Once completed, the same work will be undertaken on the western side from Dimmies. Various garden beds will be installed in the pavement to establish the 45-degree parking and define street trafficable width.

The existing blister across the square will be extended and paved to match the existing raised crossing near the Broadway Hotel. All existing parallel parking will be removed and 45 degree rear to kerb parking will be extended.

Pram ramps and tactile indicators will also be installed to ease accessibility of less mobile and vision-impaired persons to Tierney’s Newsagency.
