Emerging from the Melbourne glam-rock scene in the 1980’s, do not let these boys of Geisha fool you – their music is as relevant now as it was 25 years ago when they rocked the Melbourne Myer Music Bowl in 1985.
With the classic art-rock sensibility and Geisha’s leader Chris Doheny’s love for story-telling, make the 15 tracks on their latest album the best songs the band has produced.
Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow is a colourful compilation of new and old favourites, consisting of five new tracks and their eight top 10 Australian hits.
The band adapts the ‘harmony of The Beatles’ Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band and melody of The Small Faces Tin Soldier feel to their new album.
Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow was released last month with our local radio stations adding their new release double A-side single Mystery Writer/Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band to their play lists.
The band’s single Birthday received major airplay last year on ROK FM and 2PK and their 2009 Australian tour, which was supposed to include an appearance in Parkes, unfortunately was cancelled because the band had to return to their Melbourne studio.
The good news is Geisha is planning an Australian tour and even a tour to the UK later this year.
Their Oz tour is set to kick off in Melbourne, followed by a visit to Sydney, Newcastle and QLD.
“We do plan to tour the rest of NSW and would love to visit Parkes if there is enough support.” Joe said.
