On September 15, the Parkes East School community will be holding a day of activities to commemorate the school’s 50th anniversary.
The day’s activities will take place at the school and will include the opening of the 25th anniversary time capsule, a memorabilia display and a photographic display.
The day of celebration will culminate with a dinner at the Parkes Leagues Club.
Information regarding the 50th will be available on the school website parkeseast-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au, through regular articles in the Champion Post, and by contacting Principal Michael Ostler at the school.
A centre piece of the celebrations will be a photographic display that is being coordinated by Ian Chambers (a past Parkes East P&C President, local renowned photographer and amateur historian) with the support of the resident Parkes East photographer, Mrs Maureen Massey.
They would like anyone with photos of the school and its students over the past 50 years to get in touch. The photos will be copied and returned to the owner.
People who have photos of the school can contact Ian on 6862 2949 to have these copied for possible use in the display.
