The Parkes Meet and Greet cultural group has issued a general invitation to any new residents to town to attend today’s lunch at the Parkes Neighbourhood Centre where the day’s programme will focus on self care and relaxation.
The luncheon will commence at 12-noon and those attending are asked to take along a plate of cultural food.
“Anyone new to Parkes is welcome to attend, meet new people and make friendships,” Annie Gallagher (Migrant Support Worker) said.
“We have changed today’s programme and instead will share ideas on self care and relaxation.
“All important ways of recharging our minds and bodies will be experienced, and participants are encouraged to share their thoughts and cultural ideas to rebalance, relax and review.”
For those new to town, the Parkes Neighbourhood Centre is located at 80 Currajong Street.
Anyone requiring further information should contact either Anni on 6393 8600 or Pam on 6862 3757.
Future events planned by the group include a morning tea at 10am on Friday, 24 July, to plan and prepare for a Women’s Information Day for Parkes.
This will be followed by a meet and greet lunch/meeting on Friday, 4 September, that will focus on Peruvian dance, and a Tongan culture lunch/meet on Friday, 6 November.
